Mission Statement: The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) provides volunteer and program suggestion opportunities for teens at the library. YAC also provides the building blocks of leadership skills in a welcoming, open environment for all teens.
This past year, our teens planned ways to give back to our community and promote interest in the library. Their first project was to create heart throw pillows for the local nursing home to provide comfort for residents who may not have visitors due to the ongoing pandemic. (Pictured above)
On the heels of this project, they paired up to plan, prep, and perform their own "Story Time + Craft" for kids in the Children’s Room! The entire project was started from scratch and completed by them with the guidance of the staff in our Youth Services Department. We had great attendance that was fun for all who came. We’ll be hosting more "Story Time + Craft" events in the future! (Pictures of these events are below)
Participation in this group’s activities counts towards volunteer hours needed to graduate high school. Not a member of YAC? No problem! New teens are always welcome. Contact Kaitlin Stacy at 781-585-0517 ext. 6275, via email, or visit the library for more information.
